Agreed about Butch Walker.

I saw him with The Marvelous Three (one of the best stage shows I've ever seen -- their pick juggling act was hysterical), solo acoustic at the Brewery, and a couple months ago at the Lincoln. Great showman. Great sense of humor.

My first instinct was to say Dynamic Sound as well. Rich has a great thing going there. But....if you're not into that type of situation, there's a place on Crapitol Blvd, just off of peace street that rents out different size rooms. As I recall (it's been awhile) the rates aren't terribly bad, in comparison to some other places I've rented. I couldn't tell you the address, but if you take the ramp from Peace St. onto Capitol heading away from Downtown (North, I guess), as SOOON as you get back on capitol, start backing it down, because you'll be coming up on it on your right hand side. There are rooms on both sides. I believe on the far side there is some small little black church in the same lot, up a real steep hill.

Don't know if that's much help, but it'd be worth stopping in a checking out if you can follow my shitty directions!!!

Here's a guy that tours endlessly, is an awesome writer, and great showman and singer to boot....Robbie Fulks. He's remained more in the underground scene, but has an endless following also, and man, what a show!!!! Funny bastard too! John Pereksta (one of my guitarists and closest friends) turned me onto him, and I'm really glad that he did. Check him out if you like well written stuff.

Incidentally, I was recently turned onto Butch Walker also (someone mentioned him earlier), and I agree that he should be far more well known than he is. A little poppy, but freakin' brilliant hooks!

So, I had 3 very well written, well laid out, annotated, referenced and pictured auctions up on eBay, due to end this thursday, July 2, around 9pm. I get a notification late sunday nite (early monday, actually) that eBay has cancelled 2 of my auctions due to "violation of policy." Huh?

Lesson to be learned here:

You can NOT use a celebrity's name in an auction title unless they're an "official endorser." Evidently someone took offense to me including the line "as used by Jerry Garcia" when trying to sell a pair of JBL K120 speakers - as listed on a Grateful Dead music and equipment website: www.rukind.com. They consider this "search and browse manipulation." WTF? I'm purposely marketing these items to GD and JG fans... why wouldn't I want to include his name in the title?

Secondly, they say you can only include ONE link to an external site and it can NOT be to another site with sale merchandise. OK, I can understand the non-compete clause, but 1 link? Fukk, you have: manufacturer's website, Harmony-Central, independent forums, other manufacturer's who might sell this equipment as an upgrade...

Never mind that the 2 auctions in question had already his their reserve, as had a 3rd unrelated auction. over $350 in sold items, gone. I have no idea why the 3rd item had its bid retracted - either that was the person who complained or they freaked out when the other 2 disappeared. You'd think they'd be greedy enough to want their cut of the final value fees... which would've been well over $40.

So, I reposted items with the following text inside the auction:

"previous listing was cancelled without warning by eBay. due to this, I will NOT be including any links. feel free to search with your favorite browser for "JBL K120."

"this item was used by 'Jerry' from the mid-70's to the mid 80s' according to a well known Grateful Dead music and equipment website."

Guess we'll see what happens. Just another reason I want a nice big earthquake that would result in California dropping off into the Pacific. I could actually give a shyt if that happened. Save the world a whole bunch of trouble if all those left coast idiots disappeared.
