Jordan Okrend Rises to the Occasion With “Rising Up”
Raleigh, NC—Raleigh’s got a lot of talent—a lot of young talent. Jordan Okrend falls into that category and does not disappoint his loyal fans with his latest EP “Rising Up.” The six song masterpiece was mastered by Bluefield Mastering and engineered and mixed by “Bongo” John Metcalf. Metcalf also provided all of the percussion on the album.
Opening with a track entitled “Don’t Know,” Okrend immediately engages the listener with bluesy guitar licks and stellar vocals. Each song on the album tells a different story that is relevant to all. “Rugged Girl” talks about a girl Okrend meets who is “rough around the edges,” but he falls for her anyway. It has a Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Stevie Ray Vaughan feel to it. “Anyhow” is one that many people can relate to and talks about the state of the world today and how to overcome it. “Limitations” is another motivational tune with a catchy chorus hook that will stick in your head after just a few minutes.
But, don’t take my word for it. Go to Okrend’s website and hear for yourself the raw talent that this kid possesses at www.jordanokrend.com. You can even see him play live in a few weeks at Oliver Twist in Raleigh for his CD release show. Mark your calendars for March 3rd. Opening this show for Jordan will be Nikola Hart and Jared Pace.
